MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
FEBRUARY 18, 2021
THE MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER WITH THE FOLLOWING PRESENT : TRUSTEES – JOSEPH OWENS, JOHN LITTLE AND JONATHAN WARD. ROAD SUPERVISOR – TOM WITTS,
ROADMAN – RICHARD RENNIE AND FISCAL OFFICER – BRUCE DOWNES.
J. LITTLE MOVED AND J. WARD SECONDED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES FROM THE MEETING OF 2-4-2021. ALL IN FAVOR, MOTION PASSED.
J. WARD MOVED AND J. LITTLE SECONDED TO APPROVE THE FOLLOWING BILLS – SEE ATTACHED PAYMENT LISTING REPORT – THAT WERE PRESENTED FOR PAYMENT. ALL IN FAVOR, MOTION PASSED.
GUEST – HANNA PETERSEN – SENIOR SANDY VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL – APPLICANT FOR SCHOLARSHIP FROM THE OHIO TOWNSHIP ASSN. SHE PLANS TO MAJOR IN POLITICAL SCIENCE AND THEN ATTEND LAW SCHOOL. SHE ATTENDED THE MEETING VIA ZOOM.
ROAD SUPERVISOR’S REPORT – SLAG AND ASHES HAVE BEEN ORDERED AS A LOT OF SLAG HAS BEEN APPLIED DUE TO SEVERAL RECENT SNOWFALL / ICE STORMS. REPORTED SIGN DAMAGE AT STAFF / HALO ROADS THAT NEED REPLACED. THE REPAIRS TO THE 3 POINT HITCH ON THE NEW HOLLAND T6050 TRACTOR ARE NEARLY COMPLETED. OTHER REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE WILL BE DONE ON OTHER EQUIPMENT AS TIME PERMITS TO PREPARE FOR THE UPCOMING SPRING AND SUMMER.
ROADMAN’S REPORT – WITH THE RECENT SNOWFALL / ICE STORMS HAS REQUIRED MANY EXTRA HOURS TO KEEP ALL THE TOWNSHIP ROADS PLOWED AND GRITTED.
CEMETARY SEXTON – J. LITTLE REPORTED OF A REQUEST TO PURCHASE LOTS IN THE HARMONY CEMETARY ALONG WITH THE SALE OF MAPS OF THE CEMETARY (S). THE LARGE MAPS WILL BE TAKEN TO FEDEX OFFICE TO MAKE SMALLER COPIES. J & S SERVICES WILL SCHEDULE THE TREE REMOVAL / STUMP GRINDING IN UNION VALLEY CEMETARY WHEN SUITABLE CONDITIONS PERMIT AND A COPY OF PROOF OF LIABILITY INSURANCE IS PROVIDED TO THE TOWNSHIP.
FISCAL OFFICER’S REPORT – THE 2021 FIRE CONTRACT WITH THE DELLROY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPT WAS PRESENTED.
RESOLUTION 7 – 21 J. OWENS MOVED AND J. WARD SECONDED TO APPROVE THE 2021 FIRE CONTRACT WITH THE DELLROY VOULUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR $7000.00. ALL IN FAVOR, MOTION PASSED.
J. WARD REPORTED THAT NO CORRESPONDENCE HAS BEEN RECEIVED REGARDING THE STATUS OF THE 2019 DISASTER APPLICATION WITH THE OHIO EMERGENCY AGENCY.
J. LITTLE LED DISCUSSION OF POSSIBLE ROADS TO GRIND / RESHAPE AND STONE FOR 2021. TO BE CONSIDERED ARE IRISH RD NORTH OF BACHELOR, THE NORTH AND SOUTH ENDS OF INDIGO, PARTS OF HALO, HARTWOOD AND THE FULL LENGTH OF GRANADA ROADS. THE COST OF THIS PROGRAM FOR TWO (2) MILES OF ROAD IS $60,000.00 TO $70,000.00. THE DUST CONTROL PROGRAM FOR 2021 WOULD COST $40.000.00 TO $50,000.00 AND A PLAN WITH A LIST OF ROADS FOR APPLICATION WOULD NEED TO BE DETERMINED.
J. OWENS REPORTED ON REVIEW OF THE CARES ACT SUB-GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE MAGNOLIA VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPT WITH THE LIST OF EQUIPMENT / SERIAL NUMBERS LISTED FOR THE RECORD TO BE KEPT ON FILE. THE SAME WILL BE COMPLETED ON 2-19-2021 REGARDING THE SUB-GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE MOHAWK VALLEY FIRE DISTRICT.
REGARDING THE REPLACEMENT OF TIRES ON THE 2014 F-550 TRUCK IT WAS NOTED THAT GOODYEAR SENT A REBATE OF $600.00 AND SARCHIONE FORD GAVE CREDIT FOR THE COST OF ONE (1) TIRE. GOODYEAR TIRE REPRESENTATIVES WILL VISIT THE TOWNSHIP TO CHECK THE TRUCK WEIGHTS, LOADED AND EMPTY, TO ASSIST IN DETERMING SUGGESTIONS FOR THE BEST TIRE SOLUTION FOR THE TRUCK.
J. LITTLE REPORTED THAT LEVY IS OUT OF SLAG AND WAS CHECKING WITH GRIFFETH & SON TO ORDER ASHES WHEN THEY ARE AVAILABLE. AN ORDER FOR 75 TON OF #8 LIMESTONE WILL BE ORDERED FROM GRIFFETH ALONG WITH PRICING LIMESTONE FOR 2021.
AS THERE WAS NOTHING FURTHER TO COME BEFORE THE BOARD THE MEETING WAS ADJOURNED AT 7:37 PM ON A MOTION BY J. WARD AND SECONDED BY J. LITTLE. ALL IN FAVOR, MOTION PASSED.
